PENINSULA BAKING CO
Packaging and Branding Design
Overview:
The Peninsula Baking Co. is a local Monterey Bay Bakery in downtown Monterey's heart. I took this project on as a passion project, to explore packaging design for scones. The object of the project was to create a new and inventive way to package scones that could be for single-scone packaging and multi-scone packaging. To accomplish the design goal I made a new logo, package design, and assets for the packaging.
Struggles:
The struggle that I faced when executing this project was making a triangle box with a rounded edge that opens and fits within the larger round box. By making different small mockups of the triangle box and using geometry I was able to find a solution. I broke the box into three different die cuts; the top, the rounded side, and the bottom/ straight sides. With the die cut being in three pieces, instead of the traditional one, the triangle box was able to be curved and fit within the larger round box. After figuring out the box I had to find a way for a person to easily be able to pick up the triangle box out of the large round box. I did this by adding a tab to the top of the triangle box and adding a clear film. This also allowed people to view which scone was in the box before picking it up.

Outcome:
The outcome of the Peninsula Baking Co packing project is a new logo that conveys a professional bakery logo and is interesting to the eye. A new and inventive scone packing design. Also, the knowledge and experiences that I learned from building a package from scratch.
